Existe una teoría que afirma que la gula y la lujuria hunden sus raíces en la biología humana, en el propio instinto de supervivencia. Entonces, ¿cómo distinguir la frontera entre la necesidad y el exceso? ¿Quién es capaz de poner límites morales al placer cuando este aparece como efecto colateral de una actividad necesaria?

Evie Demetriou - Cyprus
Evie’s work can be characterised by the desire to question and challenge the boundaries of conventional dance.
Through a multidisciplinary approach of dance, theatre and performance art Evie’s Demetriou work focuses on the role of the person in society posing questions about social stereotypes, gender, sexuality.
Her main focus, to communicate her research with the audience, brings to her work humour, interactivity with the audience, and bold but different approaches to her work every time.
She studied dance at Trinity Laban Centre Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London and with scholarship at Limón Institute in New York. She is a 2004 Danceweb scholarship recipient (Impulstanz Festival), a travel grant recipient from the E-motional European Programme 2011-2014. She was invited to “Act Your Age” programme, an European collaboration between Centro per la Scena Contemporanea (IT), Dutch Dance Festival (NL) and Dance House Lemesos (CY).
As a performer, she collaborated with international choreographers such as Rosemary Lee, Athina Vahla, Alain Buffard, Felix Ruckert and with most of the Cyprus based choreographers such as Lia Haraki, Alexandra Wairstall, Mahi Lindahl, amongst others.
For her choreographic work Evie has worked with Guy Cools, Tabea Martin, Lucy Cash. Her productions have been performed in Cyprus and have been invited to international festivals in Italy, Latvia, Romania,
Sweden, Germany, Kenya, Ireland, Turkey, Greece, Croatia, Lithuania, Spain, Iceland.
Evie is a co-founder of En drasi, the umbrella that supports her choreographic work. She has an active role in developing the art of performance/dance in Cyprus and is one of the founding members and resident artist at the Dance House Lemesos.
